Another week has passed and the best two teams in baseball still both reside in the Big Apple, New York City.
The New York Mets and the New York Yankees are still tearing it up and giving us all glimpses of what could be on the table in October, that being a subway series for the Fall Classic.
It would be the first time since 2000, but it looks more and more likely by the day.
The Yankees completely dismantled the Chicago Cubs over the weekend, sweeping the North Siders and outscoring them 28-5.
The Mets managed to take advantage of a slumping Los Angeles Angels team, winning two out of three in Anaheim.
In fact, both teams reached 40 wins over the weekend and made some history in the process, as shown in the tweet below courtesy of ESPN.

Subway Dominance
These two teams continue to deal with adversity and overcome it, dominating the rest of the league and showing the sports world which city has the two best teams in baseball.
The Yankees have opened up an 8.5-game lead in the AL East, while the Mets remain 5.5 games ahead of the surging Atlanta Braves.
Clutch hitting and strong pitching have been at the center of these two teams’ dominance.
As seen in the tweet, this is the first time in baseball history that the Yankees and Mets have become the first two teams to reach 40 wins in a season.
Summer is right around the corner and the 2022 season is in full swing, as are these two teams.
It’s looking like it’s going to be these teams meeting in the World Series.
You never know what’s going to happen and there’s a lot of time left, but if people want to make predictions now, a Yankees vs. Mets matchup might be the safest bet.
