The New York Giants’ secondary defense suffered a big blow yesterday.
Star safety Xavier McKinney left the Big Apple to take his talents to Lambeau Field and play for the Green Bay Packers.
Following the announcement, he took to Twitter to thank Giants nation for all the love they showed him during these past four years, adding that they’ll always have a place in his heart.

The Packers are fresh off a trip to the NFC Divisional Round, and they’re now adding one of the best safeties in the game to revamp their defense in Jeff Hafley’s first season as defensive coordinator.
They will use him to replace Darnell Savage, who agreed to a three-year pact with the Jacksonville Jaguars on the first day of free agency.
McKinney excelled against the pass and the run, logging 116 tackles last season, the seventh-most among defensive backs.
The Packers added another prime weapon alongside star Jaire Alexander, and they hope that Hafley will finally take this underperforming defense to the next level.
This team exceeded all expectations in the first year of the post-Aaron Rodgers era, and it showed that they’re not far off from legitimate Super Bowl contention.
Now, with McKinney and Josh Jacobs joining the team, they’re one step closer to getting back to the big game.
