The Chicago White Sox and Los Angeles Angels made a blockbuster trade late on Wednesday night.
Chicago sent Lucas Giolito and Reynaldo Lopez to the Halos in exchange for left-hander Ky Bush and catcher Edgar Quero.
The news of Giolito and Lopez being traded comes as no surprise, as the White Sox are well out of contention.
However, the impact both pitchers had on the White Sox organization and the city of Chicago were felt.
On Twitter, the White Sox posted a farewell message to both Lopez and Giolito, thanking them for the work they did in the community and with the team.

When the trade deadline comes around, things can get heavy.
Teams and their fans will often times have to say goodbye to some familiar faces, some who are fan-favorites and are well loved in the community.
Unfortunately, that is the business aspect of baseball, which is quite unforgiving.
But the White Sox certainly won’t forget what Lopez and Giolito did for the team.
They both came to the White Sox in 2016 in exchange for Adam Eaton from the Washington Nationals.
The two helped transform the White Sox into a contender by 2020 and guided the team to the postseason that year and again in 2021.
Saying goodbye to familiar faces at the trade deadline is never easy, but teams and their fans certainly never forget what those players meant to the community.
The same can be said for Giolito and Lopez.
White Sox fans will miss them, but will always appreciate the work they did.
