Late on Wednesday, the Chicago White Sox and Los Angeles Angels made a key trade.
Chicago sent pitchers Lucas Giolito and Reynaldo Lopez to the Angels in exchange for catcher Edgar Quero and left-hander Ky Bush.
Though the White Sox have had a difficult season, the news of Giolito being traded was met with sadness.
Giolito was a fan favorite on the south side of Chicago and gave White Sox fans years of fond memories.
One such memory came on August 25 of 2020 during the COVID-shortened season.
Giolito tossed a no-hitter against the Pittsburgh Pirates and gave fans a reason to celebrate despite trying times.
On Twitter, White Sox play-by-play announcer Jason Benetti recalled Giolito’s no-hitter and how it brought so many people together despite everything that had been going on.
I will never forget Lucas Giolito’s no-hitter in 2020.
A night that made so many people feel together for a little while in such an awful year of being separated from life.

Giolito was certainly well loved in Chicago.
Back in 2020, the world was in a very uncertain place.
Baseball too was in a difficult spot.
Due to the pandemic, no fans were allowed in stadiums for the duration of the 2020 season.
The season also did not begin until late July as a result.
However, Giolito made White Sox fans forget all about that with his masterpiece against the Pirates.
It was the first no-hitter of the 2020 season.
But even in such desperate times, Giolito’s masterpiece helped people in Chicago come together for a brief moment, despite being separated from the world.
Fans will certainly miss Giolito, but they’ll never forget what he was able to do for the White Sox and the city.
