The NBA world was shocked when the Golden State Warriors traded for Chris Paul a couple of months ago.
Most fans expected some changes from Golden State in the summer but few thought they’d acquire the historic point guard.
But Warriors GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. told Tim Kawakami of The Athletic that the move made perfect sense.
“In terms of basketball and moving forward, financial flexibility, all that stuff you factor in, it was a relatively easy decision for us,” Dunleavy said.
“I hated having to give up Jordan (Poole), who has been such a big part of what we’ve done the last few years.”

Dunleavy did admit that the team “hated having to give up Jordan (Poole), who has been such a big part of what we’ve done the last few years.”
Still, it was clear this was the right move for the Warriors.
Golden State has a chance to gain a lot from this blockbuster acquisition.
There are few people with a higher basketball IQ than Paul.
The man is not only a great point-maker and facilitator, but he’s also a terrific team leader and a player-coach in many ways.
However, some are asking how that sort of player fits in with the current Warriors lineup.
The team already has sky-high basketball IQ and arguably the best guard of all time with Steph Curry.
Does Paul complement Curry’s style or make it redundant?
That is a big question that Warriors fans are asking again and again and they haven’t received much clarity from the team.
It is still not entirely clear how Paul will fit into the rotation: as a starter or bench player.
Will he be allowed to lead or forced to follow?
The Warriors jumped at the chance to have Paul but they may not have quite figured out how they are going to use him.
