According to multiple reports, the Golden State Warriors are interested in signing Jimmy Butler, and Butler is interested in joining them.
However, that doesn’t mean a deal is imminent because the Miami Heat might demand a lot in exchange for Butler.
According to Brett Siegel, via NBACentral, the Warriors are “hesitant” to include Andrew Wiggins in any Butler package.
Siegel wrote:
“Right off the bat, Andrew Wiggins would need to be included in any structure of a Butler deal, which is something the Warriors are not sold on, sources said. Wiggins has been a huge part of the team’s core since arriving during the 2019-20 season, and the former first-overall pick is having arguably his best season since Golden State won their last title in 2022.”

Wiggins is producing 17.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.3 assists so far this season, shooting 46 percent from the field and 42.7 percent from the three-point line.
This really is one of his best seasons with the Warriors, and that is why they are concerned about trading him.
However, the Warriors will need to give up several valuable players if they want Butler.
They will need to match his nearly $50 million salary with the Heat and Wiggins could help with that.
But if they don’t include Wiggins in a deal, they will have to rely on other players, such as De’Anthony Melton, Gary Payton II, and even promising sixth man Buddy Hield.
It’ll be a lot of work to get Butler, especially if Wiggins isn’t part of the equation, but would it be worth it?
He could bring a lot to the team, but he would carve up a huge chunk of their core.
The Warriors will have to weigh the pros and cons of adding Butler, but it sounds like they are very intrigued by the idea of adding him right now.
