When Chris Paul was signed by the Golden State Warriors in the summer of 2023, a lot of people thought he’d bring great success to the team because of his incredible skills and years of experience.
In the end, he only remained with the team for a single season before moving on to the San Antonio Spurs.
Speaking with Tony Parker, via ClutchPoints, Paul opened up about his year with the Warriors and called it “probably one of the toughest years for me.”
He didn’t dig into why things were so tough in Golden State, but Paul sounds happy to have moved on.
"Last year was probably one of the toughest years for me. I just love to hoop. I wanna play… If I'm gonna like sacrifice my family and be away from them, then I at least need to be playing."

Paul averaged 9.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 6.8 assists during his season with the Warriors.
His relationship with the team was complicated from the start.
Right away, there were questions about how he would fit in the lineup.
People were wondering if he’d be a starter or a bench player and how he would work alongside Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.
He started in 18 of his 58 games, proving that he could be part of the starting five or the second unit.
Still, he never had the impact that he wanted, and it became clear that Paul wasn’t what the Warriors needed at the time.
When the offseason rolled around, it was clear that the Warriors would be changing a lot and shaking up the roster.
Therefore, it wasn’t a surprise when Paul was sent packing to the Spurs.
His numbers have ticked up a bit since coming to San Antonio, and Paul has reclaimed his place as a starting guard.
He is happier and putting his brief chapter with the Warriors behind him.
