The San Antonio Spurs landed Victor Wembanyama with the number one overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.
Even before getting drafted into the league, Wembanyama was viewed as the next big thing in the league.
However, the 20-year-old rookie has surpassed all expectations set for him by the NBA community in his first season in the league.
Wembanyama continues to develop at an alarming rate and recently showcased his all-around talent during the Spurs vs. Oklahoma City Thunder game.
The French phenom posted a historical statline against the Thunder, as revealed via TSN on Twitter.
Wembanyama became the first player in NBA history to have more than 25 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, 5 blocks, and 5 three-pointers in a single game.
Another absolutely incredible game from the rookie. 😤 pic.twitter.com/VN8iAkxYFf

To be precise, Wembanyama posted 28 points, 13 rebounds, 7 assists, and 5 blocks in 32 minutes of playing time.
On top of that, Wembanyama shot an impressive 5-of-7 from the three-point line.
It goes without saying that Wembanyama essentially carried the Spurs to the 132-118 win over the second-seeded Thunder.
Wembanyama’s performance was a reminder that if he stays healthy throughout his NBA career, he has what it takes to essentially be regarded as the greatest basketball player of all time.
Although it may seem a little premature to put such expectations on him, Wembanyama has proven his worth during his rookie year.
Unfortunately, the Spurs currently lack an excellent supporting cast around Wembanyama.
It is evident from the Spurs’ 12-48 record in the 2023-24 NBA season as they remain the 15th seed in the Western Conference.
