Carlos Correa officially became a part of the Minnesota Twins organization yesterday, putting pen to paper to sign his three-year, $105.3 million contract.
One would think that it might take some time to put together an offer such as this and get the deal done.
The deal is worth a ton of money after all and is quite large for a deal as short as three years.
However, MLB Insider Michael Schwab tweeted an interesting little fact, that being that it only took the Twins 14 hours to actually put together the deal and get it signed, which is not that long compared to most deals.
The Twins deal from start to finish for Carlos Correa came together in 14 hours, per @Ken_Rosenthal and @DanHayesMLB

That Was Easy
This is quite surprising given the amount of money that the Twins threw into this deal, especially when considering that they had to structure it so that it could be three years and include the two opt-out clauses after each of the first two years.
Usually, it takes a decent amount of time to negotiate a contract and work out all the kinks, but it appears the Twins have already done that.
They just grinded it out and did whatever they could to give him the best deal he could possibly get.
It also helps matters that Correa chose to bet on himself and see if maybe he could get a better deal after this one is over or if he chooses to opt out at any point, which is very possible.
We could see Correa hit the market yet again this coming offseason.
If not, maybe he’ll wait to opt out until after 2023, if he chooses to opt out at all.
But that’s how quick this deal came together.
A surprise really, but when you throw a bunch of money into it, it’s hard for the player to refuse.
