The Miami Dolphins may have gotten one of the steals of the NFL Draft.
Landing Quinn Ewers in the seventh round was great value, and he’s made a strong impression in training camp.
As reported by Joe Schad, even Tua Tagovailoa had to tip his hat to his colleague – and now competitor:

Years ago, scouts thought Ewers could legitimately be a first-round selection.
Unfortunately, inconsistency took a massive toll on his game.
He has a decent arm and has elite ball placement.
He’s made a living out of making NFL-style throws in the middle of the field, and there’s no throw he can’t make.
Nevertheless, you never know what version of him you’re going to get, and that’s the last thing you want from an NFL quarterback.
Ewers has some serious lower-body mechanical issues.
He tends to step into flat-footed throws, which often lead to his deep throws floating around and losing steam.
More than that, he has yet to develop patience in the pocket, and he often fails to settle into clean pockets because of his desperation.
Still, Ewers is intriguing enough to be worth a chance.
Some of his issues can be cleaned up and coached up, and barring another Tagovailoa injury, the Dolphins should be in no rush to get him on the field.
Tua is still under contract for two more years, but with all the injuries and the team’s lack of playoff success, perhaps they’ve already found his successor.
