The Miami Dolphins moved quickly to address their cornerback depth after losing Artie Burns to a season-ending injury.
Burns was placed on injured reserve Thursday with what reports indicate is a torn ACL.
The team responded by signing free agent Jack Jones.
Jones enters a cornerback room where Cam Smith, Ethan Bonner, Storm Duck, and Kendall Sheffield are all fighting for two roster spots.
The competition figures to be intense, but Jones has arrived in Miami with clear confidence about his ability to separate himself from the pack.
When asked about his mindset entering the competition, Jones made his approach clear to reporters.
“Ball is up, it’s mine. There’s no 50-50’s. It’s 90-10,” Jones said, per Joe Schad.

The statement reflects the aggressive mentality that helped Jones become the Las Vegas Raiders’ top cornerback last season.
He recorded 69 tackles and three interceptions while allowing opposing quarterbacks to complete 54 of 86 attempts for 571 yards when targeted in coverage.
Jones has reached a critical point in his career.
The 2022 fourth-round pick by the New England Patriots has already played for three organizations in three seasons.
After his rookie year in New England, he spent time with the Raiders before signing with Miami on Saturday.
At 26 years old, Jones understands the urgency of proving he belongs at this level.
His experience becomes even more valuable when considering that most of Miami’s cornerback room lacks significant NFL playing time.
Along with recently signed veteran Mike Hilton, Jones brings the kind of proven production that could help stabilize a position group still searching for reliable depth behind their established starters.
