The Miami Dolphins found a true gem in De’Von Achane.
It’s early in the season, but the team was already raving about him for his performances in training camp, and it didn’t take long before he made an impact on the field.
Achane is averaging north of 11 yards per carry and put on a show against the Denver Broncos, rushing for 203 yards on 18 carries with two touchdowns, and also grabbing four receptions for 30 yards and two other scores.
When asked about him, QB Tua Tagovailoa praised him for being soft-spoken but quite intelligent, stating that he has a full understanding of the offense, the timing, and where he needs to be on every single play (via David Furones).

That’s not easy for rookie players to do, let alone those who missed the first game of the season.
Of course, perhaps asking him to sustain that 11-yards-per-carry average throughout the season is unrealistic, especially considering no one has done it in the history of the league.
But it wouldn’t be shocking to see him outplaying veteran Raheem Mostert and handling most of the touches out of the Dolphins’ backfield.
He’s not exactly a physical specimen and is a bit smaller, but his ability to change gears and accelerate are simply remarkable.
The Dolphins kept tabs on Dalvin Cook and even tried to acquire Jonathan Taylor to bolster their running game.
But maybe not getting either of them was a blessing in disguise, and the answer was always right in front of them.
