The Chicago Bears were 4-2 at one point in the season.
They’re now 4-10.
Caleb Williams’ dominant run was short-lived, and some people are ready to sound the alarms with him already.
As early as it is to jump to conclusions, one thing’s certain: Williams isn’t having a good time right now.
That was evident again during the Bears’ Monday Night Football defeat to the Minnesota Vikings.
Williams was visibly upset and exhausted on the sidelines, up to the point where Troy Aikman claimed he looked “defeated” (via ESPN NFL and Marquee Bears).

The No. 1 pick completed 18 of 31 passes for 191 yards and one touchdown, but he could never get the offense into a rhythm.
Williams, as talented as he is, was trying to do so much on every dropback, often resulting in miscues.
He missed wide-open receivers by a significant margin, and it seems like the entire offense is completely out of sync.
The Bears haven’t done him any favors with that offensive line and coaching staff, and it’s still too early to give up on him.
He’s talented enough to be worth more time and resources, as he might finally be their first elite quarterback.
Nevertheless, it’s become painfully evident that this season cannot end soon enough for him and his team.
The Bears cannot mess things up in the offseason.
They cannot afford to waste another season of his potential, and they will have to hope this tough rookie season is an outlier and not the norm.
