The Dallas Cowboys made one of the most surprising moves of the offseason by trading for Trey Lance.
Lance has struggled in the early stages of his career and has now moved to the Cowboys to learn under Dak Prescott.
Many pundits have wondered if this is the beginning of the end for Prescott in Dallas, especially if Lance learns quickly.
It appears Lance and Prescott have already developed rapport according to Lance’s latest comments.
According to Lance’s conversation with Jon Machota via Yahoo Sports, “He [Prescott] welcomed me with open arms.”

Lance also added he has “just tons and tons of respect for him,” indicating his relationship with Prescott.
Prescott has already taken on the mentorship role with Lance, the former No. 3 overall draft pick.
Lance has been a polarizing figure in his young career, as many analysts are torn about his potential NFL abilities.
He has been lauded as an elite athlete largely due to his rushing prowess.
However, his arm talent has left something to be desired.
If the Cowboys can develop Lance, sitting behind a player of Prescott’s league history, there’s no telling what he’ll be able to accomplish.
Lance is slated to be the third quarterback on the Cowboys’ depth chart, behind Prescott and Cooper Rush.
His path to significant work in 2023 is an uphill climb, but the addition of Lance could be a long-term play for the Cowboys.
Can he eventually take over as the team’s starter, should Prescott falter in the coming seasons?
