The Detroit Pistons have the worst record in the NBA right now, and it’s not that close.
They should look to get some salaries off their books as we approach the trade deadline, all while allowing their veteran players to pursue a better opportunity to compete somewhere else.
With that in mind, Pistons insider James L. Edwards II reports that the Minnesota Timberwolves are showing interest in PG Monte Morris (via NBA Central).

Notably, this shouldn’t be much of a surprise.
The Timberwolves only have veteran Mike Conley as a legitimate option at the point guard position, with Jordan Maclaughlin and Shake Milton as his backups.
Anthony Edwards has handled playmaking duties multiple times this season, especially when Conley has been unavailable.
And while Conley has always been a durable player, he’s not getting any younger at 36 years old and could use a helping hand.
Morris is far from an All-Star-caliber player, but he’s always been a serviceable guy to lead the second unit.
He doesn’t turn the ball over often, he knows how to pick up his spots, and he plays within his role, all while making decent money.
The Pistons have only been able to win six games all season long.
This team could use more draft capital for their rebuilding project, as this season is already down the drain for them.
The Timberwolves, on the other hand, are tied for the best record in the Western Conference, so they should be very aggressive in trade talks before Thursday’s deadline.
