The Philadelphia 76ers were just dealt a massive blow.
Star big man Joel Embiid is set to undergo surgery on his knee, and he’s expected to miss an extended period of time.
While the injury is not expected to be season-ending, it could certainly take a massive toll on the Sixers’ title aspirations, at least in terms of playoff seeding.
With that in mind, Daryl Morey could look to make some moves ahead of the trade deadline, either to try and keep the team afloat or to think about the future.
Notably, Detroit Pistons insider James L. Edwards III reports that Detroit could look to engage in trade talks for Tobias Harris (via NBA Central).

Harris already has a past with the organization, and with them looking to get more veterans around their young core, he could make sense for them.
For years, Sixers fans have urged the team to move on from Harris, as he was making top-dollar despite not being a superstar.
But if you take his massive contract out of the equation, he’s actually been quite productive since arriving in the City of Brotherly Love.
Now, Harris is finally in the last year of his contract, so the Sixers could look to get him off the books and get something in return for his services while they still can.
Needless to say, the Pistons don’t stand a chance to make the playoffs at 6-43, so this move would be all about culture-building within their inexperienced locker room.
