Last year, Leury Garcia and Yasmani Grandal were important contributors for the division-winning Chicago White Sox.
Grandal, a very good framer with power and patience, slashed .240/.420/.520 with 23 home runs and a 158 wRC+ (58 percent better than the league average).
Garcia, a versatile infielder, offered league-average offense (97 wRC+) and solid defense last year.
The situation has completely changed for the worse this year.
Both players look incapable of hitting for any kind of power.
“242 players have at least 300 PAs this season. Leury Garcia & Yasmani Grandal rank 241st and 242nd in total bases. Grandal has 74, Leury has 80. Every other player in the MLB has over 90,” Jay Cuda, a stats enthusiast who follows the White Sox, tweeted.

Before the season, we already knew that Garcia had no power: he hit a decent .267/.335/.376 last year, but with just five homers in 126 games.
Grandal Has Been A Major Disappointment
Grandal, on the other hand, has been a gigantic bust.
The catcher is slashing .201/.304/.266 with just four blasts in 322 trips to the plate.
He hasn’t always been healthy, but his power has been absent all year, and Chicago has really suffered as a result.
He went from that amazing 158 wRC+ to a 69 mark this season: well below-average.
Garcia was decent last year, but has been downright terrible in 2022.
He has a horrid 39 wRC+, and his .211/.234/.268 line makes him one of the worst hitters in baseball.
The two men have been playing a lot this year, and yet some people still wonder why the White Sox have been so mediocre in 2022.
It’s hard to get too far with two black holes in the lineup, and the organization doesn’t seem too eager to try alternatives.
