It wasn’t exactly smooth sailing for the Minnesota Twins in their first 12 games of the 2022 regular season.
Even after acquiring Sonny Gray, Gio Urshela, and Gary Sanchez and signing Carlos Correa, things just weren’t clicking.
They were 4-8 and looked like they might have been heading for a repeat performance after a terrible 2021 season.
But things are looking quite a lot different for these Twins now.
They’re winning games and look like the class of the American League Central division thus far.
Twins insider Aaron Gleeman tweeted an interesting little factoid, showing the numbers when the Twins were 4-8 and what they are now since the team has gotten rolling.
During their 4-8 start, the #MNTwins hit just .198 with a .628 OPS and scored 3.3 runs per game.
They've gone 21-8 since then while hitting an AL-high .263 with a .755 OPS and scoring 4.8 runs per game.

Twins Are Rolling
This is quite the uptick for the Twins.
A .198 team average is pretty embarrassing, as is a .628 OPS and an average of just over three runs per game.
A .263 average, .755 OPS, and an average of five runs per game on the other hand?
That’s quite impressive.
This team looks a lot different and a lot stronger than they were last season.
Last year, they were well out of contention by the time the trade deadline came around and they were forced to part with Jose Berrios.
They finished 73-89.
This year, things are looking a lot better and the Twins are proving why you should not count them out as we move towards the midpoint of the 2022 season.
It was a rough start, but it’s never over until it’s over and the Twins are proving to be a prime example of that saying.
We’ll see if they can keep things moving along the way they are.
If they can, they’re going to be tough to beat down the road.
