The Pittsburgh Steelers are looking to contend for a playoff berth next season.
But to do so they will need to go through the gauntlet that is the AFC.
The conference is loaded with good teams and elite quarterbacks.
The Steelers defense will certainly have their work cut out for them this year.
So to prepare themselves for the season the Steelers have upgraded their defense.

This is an interesting move by the Steelers as they look to add depth to their defense.
Golden has plenty of pass-rush ability, and he can help opposite of T.J. Watt.
In 2021, he recorded 11 sacks as a member of the Arizona Cardinals.
Despite his position being listed as a linebacker, he plays his best as a pass rusher.
Golden has three seasons in his career with double-digit sacks.
He will be 32 years old all of next season.
So he may not be the explosive pass rusher he was earlier in his career.
Even still, he is an experienced player and should play a solid role in Pittsburgh.
The AFC North is full of very good quarterbacks.
Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson, and Deshaun Watson are three players the Steelers will have to face twice each.
Having a stout defense and good pass rushers will be crucial in winning those games.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has an incredible stretch of 16 consecutive seasons with a .500 or better record.
But this upcoming season might be his toughest task yet.
