The San Diego Padres have plenty of talent on their roster after a busy offseason.
Stars such as Fernando Tatis Jr, Manny Machado, Xander Bogaerts, Joe Musgrove, Blake Snell, and Josh Hader are on the roster.
However, the Padres have had a disappointing 2023 season after a surprise run to the NLCS last fall.
In fact, with Friday night’s loss to the Milwaukee Brewers, the Padres have fallen to 61-68 on the season.
Even worse, they are now just one game ahead of the rebuilding Washington Nationals, who have been on a tear recently.
On Twitter, Bob Nightengale pointed out just how bad things have gotten in San Diego.
Just how comical has the #Padres' season become?

After their run to the NLCS and a busy offseason, many were expecting the Padres to be a clear World Series contender.
Unfortunately for the Padres, they have not performed up to par.
Meanwhile, the Nationals, who were expected to be out of contention all season long, are suddenly right behind the Padres.
San Diego is 19 games back of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West.
They are still alive in the Wild Card race, sitting 6.5 games back of the third and final spot.
However, the clock is ticking.
Time is running out for the Padres to pull themselves together and go on a run.
Last season, they won 89 games and earned the second Wild Card spot, beating the New York Mets and the Dodgers before falling short against the Philadelphia Phillies in the NLCS.
This year, they haven’t been so lucky.
