The NBA Summer League is about to get underway in Las Vegas, with more hype about the annual tournament filled with promising stars in the making than ever before.
Of course, all the hype surrounds the debut of potential superstar Victor Wembanyama, who the San Antonio Spurs recently selected No. 1 overall in the 2023 NBA Draft.
Only LeBron James has dealt with the kind of hype that Wembanyama is getting heading into his NBA debut, with the consensus being that this French import will be among the league’s elite players in a very short time and can single-handedly turn the Spurs franchise around.
As expected, the NBA is totally leaning into the hype and is actively promoting Wembanyama’s Summer League debut, which will take place on Friday night in Las Vegas at the Thomas & Mack Center.
"Victor Wembanyama is a revolutionary player arriving into the NBA."
"A 6'2 guard in a 7'5 body."
"You see something you've never seen before in basketball."

Along with Wembanyama making a lot of headlines and getting basketball fans excited for Summer League, the Portland Trail Blazers also have a potential superstar in the making that everyone wants to see in guard Scoot Henderson, who has essentially become Damian Lillard’s replacement.
Wembanyama and Henderson alone will have Vegas packed with avid basketball enthusiasts hoping to get a look at what could be the future of the league.
As for the Spurs, Gregg Popovich has one more chance to resurrect the franchise in the post-Tim Duncan era before walking off into the sunset, with no one being happier that San Antonio got their hands on this French phenom than the five-time NBA champion head coach.
