The New York Mets had a negative record leading up to the deadline, thus deciding to sell some assets.
They traded Max Scherzer, Justin Verlander, Tommy Pham, Dominic Leone, Mark Canha, and David Robertson: all everyday players with prominent roles.
As a result, they netted some exciting prospects for the future.
However, their MLB roster was left in shambles.
This was evident in their most recent road trip, in which they played against the Kansas City Royals and the Baltimore Orioles.
“The Mets just went winless on a road trip of six or more games for the first time since 2017,” Mets insider Anthony DiComo tweeted.

There you have it.
The Mets haven’t won since the deadline, and the second half could actually be one of the ugliest in recent memory.
On Sunday, for example, the Mets lineup was strong from 1-3 with Jeff McNeil, Francisco Lindor, and Pete Alonso, but it decreased in quality after that with the likes of DJ Stewart (he was the cleanup hitter!), Omar Narvaez, Danny Mendick, Rafael Ortega and others.
However, there is a silver lining: fans can see from up close how the best prospects in the organization develop.
They can pay attention to Brett Baty, Mark Vientos, Francisco Alvarez and other talented players in the majors; and they can monitor the development of prospects such as Ronny Mauricio, Blade Tidwell, Luisangel Acuna, Marco Vargas, Ronald Hernandez, Drew Gilbert, and Ryan Clifford in the minor leagues.
Fans are understandably disappointed at the team’s performance and direction given the huge expectations before the season.
However, this is also an opportunity to watch the young guys blossom.
They are the future of the franchise anyway.
