On Sunday, an NFL referee had a slip with calling a flag during the game between the Seattle Seahawks and the New York Giants.
A flag was called against the Seahawks after head coach Pete Carroll was called for sideline interference during a play, but the referee mistakenly referred to the Seahawks as the Seattle Mariners.
Naturally, a meme was born as a result of the referee’s blunder.
So, the Mariners themselves decided to have a little bit of fun with it.
On Twitter, the Mariners social media team photoshopped the team celebrating after clinching a postseason berth into a photo of the play where Carroll was called for sideline interference.
Ah, that explains it! pic.twitter.com/fXTdnJoL4b

That Explains It!
That explains a lot, doesn’t it?
It turns out the Mariners were really there and the referee wasn’t seeing things.
Of course, this poor referee has become the brunt of a running joke in Seattle.
No, the Mariners were not actually there, but since the referee misspoke, the Mariners decided to have some fun with it and photoshop themselves into the photo of the play as if they were actually there.
But it sure explains a great many things.
It would in fact be sideline interference if the Mariners were actually there and celebrating during the play.
You have to admire the effort the Mariners put forth in creating this photoshop meme.
Photoshopping already takes time, but the Mariners went through a lot of work to make certain that they joined in on the fun.
