The Seattle Mariners had a fun season in 2022, reaching the postseason for the first time since 2001.
But it appears that their fame is growing beyond T-Mobile Park.
This was a team that overcame a terrible start and defied the odds in order to accomplish something that hadn’t been done in over two decades.
Needless to say, their success story is on a lot of people’s minds, even NFL referees it seems.
Yesterday, during the game between the Seattle Seahawks and the New York Giants, a flag was called on the Seahawks coaching staff for interfering with a play, but when the referee called it, he accidentally referred to the Seahawks as the Mariners.

Mariners Receive Namedrop At Seahawks Game
It appears that many people across the sports world are in awe of what the Mariners accomplished.
They may have been swept in the ALDS, but they did accomplish something that they hadn’t done since 2001.
Clearly, that was on the mind of the referee and it’s still the talk of the town in Seattle.
Who’s to say the referee himself isn’t a Mariners fan?
At the very least, the Mariners got a namedrop yesterday.
It may have been during a football game, but some recognition is better than no recognition at all.
It’s not every day that you’ll get a namedrop during a football game, but the Mariners were lucky enough to receive one.
They’re still on everybody’s minds, even after being eliminated.
Referees are bound to have a freudian slip or two from time to time, but this time, it resulted in a namedrop for the Mariners.
