The chances of the Los Angeles Lakers making changes before the season is over are high.
If the team was one of the best in the West they might sit on their hands and do nothing but they are still in 12th place with a 17-21 record.
The fact that Anthony Davis is again injured and a timetable for his return is unclear throws a huge monkey wrench into any plans.
Do they trade away their draft picks and attempt to land a big star now?
Do they wait it out and see what happens in the summer?
Additionally, they could try to sign an aging free agent for a veteran’s minimum salary in hopes of boosting their chances.
The Los Angeles Lakers intend to bring in four-time NBA All-Star DeMarcus Cousins for a workout next week, league sources tell @BleacherReport: https://t.co/koEOoAy9Rm

That might be their best bet and next step.
It is being reported that four-time All-Star DeMarcus Cousins is expected to work out with the Lakers next week.
Cousins was once one of the most dominant and strong big men in the league.
But times have changed and he is currently without a home in the NBA.
He no longer has the ability to score his career-high 27 points a game but he can certainly make some noise coming off of the bench.
Cousins could also really help the team out as they await the return of Davis.
Plus, he would come for cheap, so it makes sense financially for the Lakers.
Over the last few years, Cousins bounced around the NBA a bit, playing for the Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Clippers, Milwaukee Bucks, and, finally the Denver Nuggets.
The man still had some strong nights and was dominant at times.
However, years of play and a nagging bad reputation have lessened the glow around him.
His career average is 19.6 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 3 assists a game on 46% from the field.
Of all the free agents available to the Lakers, he makes the most sense right now.
It will be interesting to see if the team moves forward with him.
