One of the major concerns for the Miami Dolphins last season was the health and long-term future of star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who made a case for NFL MVP when he was healthy and had the team firing on all cylinders.
Heading into the 2023 NFL season, the concern will remain the same for Tagovailoa as the team has committed to him even though he actually considered retiring after multiple head injuries in 2022.
Interestingly enough, Tagovailoa has made some noise during this offseason, as he has started to show some major leadership qualities, which is obviously a great sign for the Dolphins moving forward.
However, along with Tagovailoa turning into the leader that Miami wants under center, the team has made efforts to teach its quarterbacks how to better protect their heads next season and beyond in the most unexpected and unorthodox way, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN via Dov Kleiman of BroBible.
"I was told the Dolphins actually implemented some Jiu-Jitsu workouts with their quarterbacks in their pre-practices routine. To learn how to fall forward and protect their head." – @JFowlerESPNpic.twitter.com/0MmqcYKcIt

If Tagovailoa can stay healthy next season and for the foreseeable future, the Dolphins have a legitimate shot at becoming perennial title contenders even while competing in one of the toughest divisions in the NFL.
Yes, the AFC East now has to contend with an Aaron Rodgers-led New York Jets team as well as the Buffalo Bills and the always-dangerous New England Patriots, but few teams are as talented on both sides of the football as the Dolphins.
It will be an interesting 2023 campaign, to say the least, for the Dolphins and in the AFC, for that matter, with a ton of intriguing teams set to battle it out.
