Fans of the Brooklyn Nets woke up to shock on Thursday morning as they discovered that Kevin Durant had been traded to the Phoenix Suns in the dead of night.
Durant was the biggest star on the team and in fact one of the biggest in the NBA.
Losing him will severely harm the future of the Nets and will force them to completely shift their focus and central core.
The loss of Durant also marks the end of an era.
And then there was none.

Durant moving to the Suns means the last of Brooklyn’s big three is gone.
This major move follows Kyrie Irving’s trade to the Dallas Mavericks last week and James Harden’s departure to the Philadelphia 76ers in the previous season.
When these three players came together under the Nets banner several years ago, people thought the best was yet to come.
There were many who expected the team to storm all the way to the Finals.
They never got that close.
Brooklyn was plagued by injuries right from the start but they then faced in-fighting within the organization, strong personalities, controversies, and a very tough Eastern Conference.
All of this came together to prevent the Nets from ever reaching their potential.
Up until yesterday, loyal fans believed that Durant would remain in Brooklyn despite losing his two allies.
But inside reporting suggests he was looking to part ways with the team and end up in Phoenix.
Durant got his wish and he will be returning to the Western Conference for the first time in years.
But his leaving the Nets basically ruins their chances of making the Finals and closes the book on a long, troubled, unique part of the team’s history.
