The Brooklyn Nets pretty much broke the internet when they signed Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.
Then, some people were positive they were championship-bound when they also landed James Harden via trade.
Others, however, thought they were a ticking time bomb and predicted it was just a matter of time before their egos made them shoot themselves in the foot, sort of speak.
Fast forward to today, and it’s evident that the second group was right about these guys.
The Nets have no NBA championship or even a Finals appearance to show for all the money they spent, all the PR nightmares they went through, and all the drama.
That’s why former NBA player-turned-analyst Tim Legler believes this is one of the biggest, most embarrassing underachievements in professional sports history:
“I think it’s not just maybe the greatest underachievement in NBA history; this is one of the greatest underachievements in the history of team sports,” Legler said. ” Because when they put these three guys together, that should’ve been guaranteed titles.”
“This is one of the greatest underachievements in the history of team sports.” 😳

All things considered, this isn’t a hot take at all; he’s right on cue.
Not only did the Nets assemble arguably the greatest offensive juggernaut this game had ever seen, but also they filled their mouths with promises of ‘scary hours’ and putting the league on notice, which never happened.
Of course, they did go 13-3 in 16 games together, but that success was as shortlived and problematic as it was impressive.
This infamous three-year tenure will be nothing but a huge stain on the Nets’ Wikipedia page and will go down as one of the biggest ‘what ifs’ in the history of this beautiful game.
I don’t know about you guys, but I just can’t wait until this 30-for-30 drops.
