The Arizona Cardinals are aware that they are in for a tough battle this season.
In their division alone, they have to contend with other playoff teams like the San Francisco 49ers.
The NFC West also has the defending Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams.
That’s why they need to keep up with those powerhouse teams if they want to make the postseason as well.
For that reason, the Cardinals signed quarterback Kyler Murray to a lucrative extension.
But with their play-caller secured, they must also maintain the protection around him.
That’s why the squad signed a valuable member of their offensive line to a contract extension.

Cardinals staff writer Kevin Parrish Jr. tweeted, “The Cardinals sign LT DJ Humphries to a contract extension, keeping the veteran under contract through the 2025 season.”
Humphries became a Pro Bowler last season which was his seventh NFL season.
He was selected by the Cardinals in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft and he has become a stalwart on their offensive line.
Humphries has started all 75 games he played, making him a durable presence in the trenches.
His contract extension is worth $66.8 million which includes $34 million in guaranteed money.
Cardinals Retaining Their Top Players
With Murray and Humphries locked into long-term contracts, the Cardinals have a nucleus that will make them competitive for years to come.
Having those key players will attract free agents to play in Arizona to improve their chances of making it further in the playoffs.
But now that they have solidified their offense, it’s time for the Cardinals to build their defense, especially after losing Chandler Jones.
Striking a balance in both units will make them a legitimate contender over the next few seasons.
