After finishing with a 4-13 record for a second straight season, the Arizona Cardinals are looking to get back to respectability.
They haven’t done a whole lot in free agency so far, as they missed out on star defensive lineman Christian Wilkins, who is going to the Las Vegas Raiders, although they did agree to deals with defensive tackles Bilal Nichols and Justin Jones, as well as cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting.
On Wednesday, Adam Schefter tweeted that Arizona made a move on offense by releasing offensive tackle D.J. Humphries.
Cardinals released veteran offensive tackle D.J. Humphries, who tore his ACL vs. the Eagles on New Year’s Eve and was not expected to be ready for the start of the 2024 season.

Humphries has played all eight of his NFL seasons with Arizona, and his best season came in 2021 when he was named to the Pro Bowl.
That season, they won each of their first seven regular-season games and finished with an 11-6 record, which earned them a playoff spot.
However, he has been hampered by injuries ever since — he was limited to eight games in 2022 due to a back injury, and as Schefter mentioned, he tore his ACL late in the 2023 campaign.
The Cardinals have reasons to be hopeful for the 2024 season, as quarterback Kyler Murray has fully recovered from his own ACL injury late in 2022, and they still have plenty of salary cap space to work with.
In addition, they will have the No. 4 pick in April’s draft, and unless they trade down, they could likely use it on Marvin Harrison Jr., the best wide receiver prospect in this year’s draft.
Harrison has put up over 1,200 receiving yards and has scored 12 receiving touchdowns in both of the last two seasons for Ohio State.
