The Denver Broncos are currently 3-9, holding down the bottom spot in the AFC West.
They are having an underwhelming season, especially in comparison to their lofty preseason expectations of winning the division.
The Broncos find themselves under immense scrutiny and unfortunately are near the bottom of the league in many different metrics, both offensive and defensive.
However, they find themselves on top of one statistical category, albeit, not a positive one.
Most penalties in the NFL:
1) #Broncos – 91

8) #Giants – 78
9) #Dolphins – 75
10) #Browns – 74— Dov Kleiman (@NFL_DovKleiman) December 6, 2022
That’s right.
Besides all of their offensive and defensive shortcomings, the Broncos lead the league in total penalties.
Not to mention, they are last in the league in points scored per game (13.8).
One Bright Spot To The Broncos Season
If there is one thing that the 2022 Broncos can hang their hats on, it is their defense.
The Broncos defense is allowing just 17 points per game, the second-best mark in the league.
They can have confidence that, no matter how few points their offense is scoring, they can count on the defense to put up a strong fight against their competitors.
Looking forward to 2023, the Broncos should be in a great position to retain the majority of their defensive players.
In 2023, it will be up to Russell Wilson and the offense to improve their offensive production.
Being last in the league in total points scored is not an ideal way to win games, let alone make the playoffs.
With the AFC West only getting more competitive, the Broncos need to make sure that they keep up, otherwise, they will get left behind in a hurry.
