The Milwaukee Brewers have been one of the best teams in baseball in 2023.
That’s somewhat surprising, considering that the St. Louis Cardinals entered the season as the clear favorite in the NL Central.
It’s still way too early to draw conclusions, but at the very least, the 7-2 Brewers won’t go down easily.
The strength of their roster is their bullpen.
They have one of the nastiest relievers in baseball in Devin Williams, but despite trading Josh Hader last year, their bullpen has remained top notch.
“The #Brewers 0.84 bullpen ERA leads the MLB, with the #Rays a distant 2nd at 1.86. Milwaukee relievers have not surrendered a run in 23.1 innings pitched, a streak stretching 7 games,” Brewers Stats on Twitter wrote.

A 0.84 ERA is unbelievable performance and means a unit has allowed fewer than one run per each nine innings it completes.
That’s some top-notch performance.
Besides Williams, arms like Javy Guerra, Matt Bush, Peter Strzelecki, Hoby Milner, Bryse Wilson, Gus Varland and Joel Payamps have been near flawless.
It’s very hard for a pitching unit to keep up a sub-1.00 ERA for an entire season, but the group should be solid enough to be comfortably in the top ten, possibly even top five.
For the Brewers to keep up with the Cardinals and other emerging forces in the National League, they are going to need their bullpen to keep providing strong numbers.
They have the look of true postseason contenders, but there are at least seven or eight teams in the NL with that same status, and only six will make it.
