If we consider winning percentage exclusively, the Atlanta Braves tied the Tampa Bay Rays for the best record in baseball on Wednesday.
The Rays are 55-28, and the Braves are 53-27.
Both squads have a .663 winning percentage, though.
The Braves have managed to catch the Rays at the top of the league because of some excellent play in the month of June.

As FOX Sports: MLB noted on Twitter, the Braves remain the only team without a series loss in June.
That’s something really hard to achieve because it requires winning at least two games per series (for three and four-game sets).
They are showing that they are a consistently great team who happen to be on fire, too.
Atlanta has won five straight and nine of their last ten.
The gap between them and the second-placed team in the NL East is 6.5 games.
They have run laps around the New York Mets, who were supposed to be their biggest rivals towards the NL East title.
As of Thursday afternoon, the Mets are 17 games behind the Braves.
The Braves are just too good and deep that nobody in that division can compete with them.
They have developed impressive pitching depth that allows them to seamlessly replace a pitcher like Max Fried when he is out with an injury.
Ronald Acuna Jr. leads the way among Braves stars, but they have a deep and solid supporting cast with Matt Olson, Eddie Rosario, Marcell Ozuna, Orlando Arcia, Sean Murphy, Ozzie Albies, and many others.
The Braves are legitimate World Series contenders and are showing off in June.
