The Los Angeles Angels are proving to be a real threat in the American League.
They sit atop the AL West division, leading it by a half-game over the defending AL champion Houston Astros.
This is a team that is getting key contributions from not just its powerful lineup, but it’s pitching as well.
The Angels finally addressed their pitching needs in the offseason.
But right now, the story of their team is one of their offensive stars, outfielder Taylor Ward.
Codify, a baseball analytics Twitter page, posted a tweet pointing out that Ward is on an absolute tear and is carrying the Angels.
There's a guy on the Angels batting .372 with a .495 on base percentage and a .718 slugging percentage. 😮
His name is Taylor Ward. 🔥pic.twitter.com/MNcquTbzMZ

Ward Is On Fire
A .372 batting average, a .495 on-base percentage, and a .718 slugging percentage?
Now that’s impressive.
That’ll get you some All-Star votes for sure.
Ward has never been a household name, but he’s quickly turning himself into one with the way he’s hitting.
There may not be a hotter hitter on the planet, not even Nolan Arenado.
Ward has put himself in a league of his own.
The 28-year-old has also hit seven home runs and driven in 17 runs to start the season.
And to think he shares a lineup with Shohei Ohtani, Mike Trout, Jared Walsh, and Anthony Rendon is a scary thought.
The Angels are a very dangerous team that is ready to pounce and make themselves known in the American League, and Ward is leading the charge.
It’s not very often that you’re going to see a guy on a hot streak like this, but that’s okay with Ward.
He’ll just continue to fly under everybody’s radar and make himself known across the league.
We’ll see what’s next for him.
