The Golden State Warriors failed to defend their 2022 NBA Championship last season.
In fact, the Warriors were eliminated by the seventh-seeded Los Angeles Lakers in six games in the 2023 Western Conference Semifinals.
While the entire team needs to improve, Klay Thompson played like a shadow of himself vs. the Lakers.
Keeping that in mind, Thompson has apparently worked extremely hard this offseason.
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr revealed that Thompson was aware of the changes that he needed to make in his game ahead of the 2023-24 season via 95.7 The Game on Twitter.
“He’s in great shape and shooting the ball lights out. He’s motivated. It’s a contract year,” Kerr said.
"[Klay] claimed he knew that he needed to have a better summer and he told us that we didn't have to tell tell him. He has that self awareness. I think this summer he was really committed. I just saw him the last few days playing pickup ball. He looks fantastic. He's in great…

In the 2023 playoffs, Thompson averaged 18.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game.
But he shot a career-low 38.8% from the field as he took many low-percentage shots during the postseason.
Thompson looked completely out of sync, which cost the Warriors dearly in the playoffs.
Considering this will be a contract year for Klay, Kerr expects him to be the best version of himself.
Since Thompson will turn 34 years old soon, the 2023-24 season could play an extremely important role in his potential future with the Golden State Warriors.
Can Thompson improve his game for the upcoming season? Well, Steve Kerr believes that’s possible, and Thompson could be in for a great year.
