Not long ago, the Sacramento Kings held the longest active postseason drought in the NBA.
Then, with Mike Brown at the helm, they were able to make the playoffs.
While he had plenty of talent at his disposal, putting an end to the franchise’s woes was so impressive that he even ran away with Coach of the Year honors, becoming the first-ever unanimous winner.
Fast forward to today, and he’s now out of a job.
When asked about his firing, his colleague Steve Kerr put the Kings on blast for this ‘disappointing’ move.
“Very disappointed to hear the news. Mike is a great friend, a great coach… It’s so shocking when a guy is a unanimous Coach of the Year a year and a half ago and when you think about where that franchise was before Mike got there and where they’ve been the last couple years, it’s really shocking,” he said.

Notably, Kerr isn’t the only one talking about this.
Denver Nuggets coach Mike Malone, who was also fired by the Kings in the past, stated that the organization had “no class and no balls” for doing what they did to him.
They reportedly fired him over the phone when he was on his way to the airport to fly to Los Angeles for their game against the Lakers.
The Kings haven’t had the start of the season they hoped for, especially after adding DeMar DeRozan to the mix, but this still doesn’t only seem a little extreme but also counterproductive.
The Kings won’t get a better coach than Mike Brown at this point in the season.
They have a long history of dysfunction and not taking care of their players and coaches.
Most of the time, those decisions show on the court as well, even if they have a very talented team that should’ve fared better this season.
