Steve Ballmer knew he was signing up for a challenge when he bought the Los Angeles Clippers in 2014.
Since that purchase, the team has seen its fair share of success but also a lot of shortcomings and disappointments.
Ballmer still believes in the team and expects big things from it.
Speaking to Paul George on his “Podcast P” show, Ballmer made a few promises to the fans.
“I hope to deliver a stronger, better kind of brand and image. I don’t want to be the old Clippers,” Ballmer stated.
He added that he wants the team and its arena to be known “as a hot team, a hot place.”
“This new arena’s a thing to give the fans. We’re never going to be all we can be unless we’re in nobody’s shadow,” Ballmer said.
Ballmer has become a very well-respected owner and obviously cares about his team very much.
In fact, a survey conducted by The Athletic in 2020 found that Ballmer is considered the best owner in the entire league.
He has always supported his players enthusiastically.
But he has also made no secret of his desire to win a championship.
However, Ballmer noted that he can only set the team up for success.
He considers the new arena they are building as a big part of that.
He doesn’t want the Clippers to forever be in the shadow of the Lakers and wants them to have their very own arena, one that fans can be proud of.
Of course, he also wants to stock the roster with the best players who can all work together to achieve postseason success.
He is intent on doing everything in his power to make this era the best in the team’s history.
With what he is doing off the court and what the players and coaches are doing on it, Ballmer thinks big things could be ahead for the Clippers.
