Throughout the course of their history, the Los Angeles Clippers have struggled to establish their presence in the city.
It’s not a secret that they play in a Lakers town, and developing a new brand identity and stealing away some fans has been an uphill battle.
That’s why team owner Steve Ballmer is trying to come up with a solution to improve fan experience and make sure their games are full of Clippers fans, stating that he’s working on a ‘season pass.’
In his recent appearance on Paul George’s Podcast P, the business mogul explained that the idea is to develop something similar to a Netflix subscription, in the sense you can only share your season pass with 3-4 people (via Legion Hoops).
Steve Ballmer:
“We’re working on a Clippers season pass. You buy a season ticket, you sell it if you’re not going. I don’t like that. That’s how we get the other teams fans. A season pass, like Netflix, you can share it with 3-4 people. You can’t sell that.”

Ballmer explained that people often re-sell their season tickets when they cannot attend a game, and that’s how fans from rival teams get in the arena.
Ever since he took over the team, Ballmer has made sure to go the extra mile to enhance the fan experience and make people want to root for the Clippers.
A new image, a new arena just for them, and acquiring superstars have all been a part of his plan to make sure the Clippers are no longer the Lakers’ little brother.
Of course, the best way to achieve this is by actually winning championships, and while they’ve been perennial contenders, injuries and load management have stood in their way too many times already.
Hopefully, for him, this will be the year they finally get over that hump.
