The San Antonio Spurs fanbase had high expectations for Victor Wembanyama when he entered the league.
Wembanyama was the most prolific NBA prospect in quite some time, and if he didn’t deliver, it was going to be a massive disappointment.
Thankfully, he ended up being the prince that was promised, and he won the NBA Rookie of the Year award in the 2023-2024 season.
The team’s record wasn’t quite what they expected, but Wembanyama’s rookie campaign gave them hope for the future.
Fans knew that the team was building up to something, and their suspicions were right.
They acquired Chris Paul in the offseason, a veteran leader who should be a major help in the locker room.
The team also selected Stephon Castle in the first round of this year’s NBA Draft, and he’s already showing why he’ll be a great counterpart to Wembanyama and Paul.
As the NBA on ESPN recently highlighted, Castle had a monster slam dunk during the preseason, causing all of his teammates to get out of their seats.

His teammates weren’t the only ones who were excited, as NBA fans across social media also expressed their excitement.

Castle hasn’t played a real minute of NBA basketball, but if this preseason game is any indication, he’s going to be a fun one to watch.
The Spurs are mostly young, but they have several playmakers who should be able to improve this team’s chances of a turnaround.
Making the playoffs could be a tall feat, but this team seems more than willing to step up to the challenge.
