A lot of NBA fans have grown sick and tired of load management.
Nearly every team uses load management as a way to keep players healthy all season long, sometimes forcing them to miss multiple games even when they are still in good shape and technically able to play.
But some NBA insiders and players are pushing back on the criticisms of load management, including Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors.
Curry sat down on the popular show Hot Ones to eat some spicy sauce and talk about his career.
He said that load management is frustrating to everyone but is the result of advice from “smart, professional, well-studied individuals.”
“Going into my 15th year, I feel as fresh as I’ve ever been,” Curry said.
He credits load management and the professionals behind the scenes for his ability to keep playing.
While this may all be true, people are still going to demand that the NBA do something about the amount of load management that teams employ.
Throughout the regular season, it is not uncommon to see some of the league’s biggest stars sitting out of games again and again, seemingly for no reason.
Adam Silver and his team have done some things in an attempt to limit this.
They have put rules into play regarding the number of games that have to be played to win end-of-season awards, for example.
Curry says that he is in great shape, partly because of methods like this.
That means that debate around this practice is sure to continue into the future.
The issue of load management isn’t going away any time soon.
