The Kansas City Chiefs have been the best team in the National Football League for a while now.
Patrick Mahomes has silenced the doubters over and over, establishing himself as the best player in the league by a very wide margin.
But as much as the Chiefs have dominated their competition since Mahomes took over as a starter, sports pundit Stephen A. Smith refuses to believe they’re a dynasty.
In the latest edition of “First Take” on ESPN, he claimed that the Chiefs cannot be considered a dynasty if they haven’t even won back-to-back Super Bowls.
He acknowledges that they’ve made it to three Super Bowls in four years and have won two of them, but not winning consecutive trophies rules them out of the dynasty discussion right away.
Of course, Smith gives Mahomes his flowers as the best player on Earth right now, and he does believe they have the potential to be a dynasty, but we shouldn’t have this conversation until they prove they can do it two years in a row.
The Chiefs don’t have the most talent in the league, but they do have a couple of superstars and arguably the best coach in today’s game.
They also have the confidence and feeling like they can win every game regardless of the rival and the deficit.
But until they win at least two in a row, Smith simply won’t give them the nod as an NFL dynasty.
