The NBA regular season is approaching an end.
This means we are getting closer to finding out who will win the end-of-year awards, such as MVP.
There are multiple big stars competing for each prize and plenty of opinions floating around.
Stephen A. Smith weighed in on the conversation about the Most Valuable Player trophy.
He is pushing back against the conventional wisdom that says Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets will win his third MVP in a row.
“I don’t want to hear anything about Jokic being a frontrunner for the MVP right now, the way Denver has tailed off,” Smith said.
As if that wasn’t enough, Smith then went on to chant the name of the man he thinks should claim the title: “Joel Embiid,” he said again and again.
I don’t wanna hear ANYTHING about Jokic being a frontrunner for the MVP…especially with how Denver has looked.

It is true that the Nuggets have now lost three games in a row.
That is a tough string of defeats rarely experienced by the team.
At the same time, Embiid and his Philadelphia 76ers are in the midst of a five-game winning streak.
However, multiple things need to be taken into consideration when speaking about who should win MVP.
For one, it’s not about just one part of the season.
All of 2022-23 has to be looked at and Jokic has been phenomenal from the very start even though his team is struggling right now.
Additionally, his team has surged to the top of the standings for the first time in years, partly because of his expertise.
Meanwhile, Embiid has been more consistent than ever before.
He is also dominant on both ends of the court.
Both of these men are definitely having incredible seasons.
The debate over who is the real MVP will rage on for the next few weeks and strong opinions will be shared.
In the end, this just proves how competitive and great the league is right now.
