During his time with the Golden State Warriors thus far, Stephen Curry has put together quite an impressive resume while helping lead his team to four NBA titles over the past decade.
Along with filling up the trophy case in the Bay Area for the Warriors, Curry also has some impressive individual accolades, with one that potentially stands above the rest as it had never been done before.
In 2016, Curry won the NBA MVP award for the second straight year, but this time he was awarded MVP unanimously, which, believe it or not, had never happened before in the NBA.
In an interview with Complex Sports, Curry let it be known that he cherishes winning the MVP unanimously more than being the NBA’s all-time leader in three-pointers, but did say Los Angeles Lakers legend Shaquille O’Neal should’ve been the first player in league history to have the distinction.

Back in 2000, when O’Neal was crushing the competition on a nightly basis for the Lakers, the then-future Hall of Famer came one vote shy of becoming the first player in NBA history to win the regular-season award unanimously.
Curry being the player to win the award is pretty surprising, considering all the dominant players that have come and gone over the years, like Michael Jordan and O’Neal.
Even though Jordan and O’Neal never earned the NBA MVP award unanimously, all three superstars were deserving during the prime of their careers, but Curry’s obviously is a bit more special, considering he’s officially the first to pull off that feat, with no telling when or if that’ll happen again.
