The Golden State Warriors have changed modern basketball, which is somewhat simpler to do when you have the two greatest shooters in NBA history on your roster.
Klay Thompson is pretty much 1B to Stephen Curry’s 1A, and both have proven it on the court and during three-point shooting contests.
But as great as both are, neither of them have been able to do what Sabrina Ionescu did during the WNBA’s All-Star Weekend.
The New York Liberty superstar set a new record — for both men’s and women’s basketball — after scoring 37 points in a single round in the three-point shooting contest, which is why she took the liberty — no pun intended — to challenge Steph to a shootout.
Shoot out??😂 @StephenCurry30

Unsurprisingly, the four-time NBA champion was up to the task, telling ESPN that he’s looking forward to going after that record.
.@StephenCurry30 says he and @sabrina_i20 need to settle who's the best three-point competition shooter 👀

It’ll be a while before the NBA’s All-Star Weekend, and considering his age and everything he’s accomplished in his career thus far, it’s kind of tough to believe he’s going to partake in a three-point shooting contest at that point.
But a three-point shootout featuring him, Ionescu, and Thompson could be a very successful event in the offseason, perhaps even for charity.
Sabrina Ionescu has set the bar quite high for what it means to dominate in a shootout, as not even legends like Larry Bird — or Steph — were able to be as efficient in a round throughout their careers.
Maybe there’s a new shooting GOAT in town and we have yet to accept it.
