Dennis Schroder is coming back to the Los Angeles Lakers and quite a few fans are cautiously optimistic about his return.
The guard is coming off of a great run in the EuroBasket tournament, where he scored 22.1 points and 7.1 assists for his native Germany.
Following that string of great games, many within the league knew it was only a matter of time before the free agent was signed by an NBA team.
In the end, it was the Lakers who decided to take a chance on Schroder again.

Back in 2020-21 when Schroder first played for LA, he actually did quite well.
He put up 15.4 points and 5.8 assists a game, going 44/34/85%.
Schroder happened to be part of a troubled Lakers season – and didn’t play well during contract negotiations – so people don’t remember him as fondly as they should.
Dennis Isn’t Done
The 2021-22 season wasn’t a great one for the Lakers, who were coming off of their latest Finals victory.
LA suffered from injuries and a tough Western Conference and ended up getting pushed out of the playoffs in the first round.
Schroder was a good player for the squad – he had his bad games and wasn’t consistent enough but he was still very helpful most of the time.
When it was time for a contract extension, Schroder and his managers felt he was worth upwards of $80 million.
The Lakers did not agree and Schroder was gone.
He then played for the Boston Celtics and Houston Rockets, averaging 13.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 4.6 assists.
Now, Schroder is returning to LA with something to prove.
Based on what we have recently seen from him in the EuroBasket games, he could be a huge benefit for the struggling Lakers.
