The Green Bay Packers received a significant boost ahead of their Week 6 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals as Christian Watson returned to practice.
The wide receiver is back nine months after tearing his ACL in January’s season finale against the Chicago Bears.
His activation opens a 21-day window for Green Bay to add him to the 53-man roster, providing a much-needed spark for an offense that has struggled to find a consistent rhythm this season.
Watson’s return comes at an ideal moment for the Packers.
The team is coming off a Week 5 bye and sits 2nd in the NFC North, but the passing attack has lacked explosiveness without its deep threat.
According to information shared by The Leap’s Peter Bukowski, Watson’s impact metrics highlight just how valuable he can be when healthy.

Watson’s ability to stretch defenses has been sorely missed.
Last season, he averaged 21.4 yards per catch over 15 games, a mark that would have ranked second among qualifying NFL receivers.
His deep-ball prowess and game-breaking speed create problems for opposing secondaries while opening opportunities for teammates underneath.
Moreover, Green Bay averages 28 points per game when he plays compared to just 23.8 points when he’s sidelined, per Packer’s Wire.
That five-point swing reflects how his presence affects the entire offensive structure, creating favorable matchups for tight ends and running backs while keeping safeties honest.
In Watson’s absence, the Packers have leaned on young receivers like Romeo Doubs, rookie Matthew Golden, and Dontayvion Wicks.
