San Antonio Spurs fans all over the world dreamed of this moment for over a year.
They won the NBA draft lottery and thus the Victor Wembanyama sweepstakes, so the time to get hyped and excited has officially arrived.
That also applies to Gregg Popovich, his teammates, and even high-level officials, as we could tell from a now-viral clip of team managing partner Peter Holt during the lottery.
Holt was as excited as a kid on Christmas morning, and it’s easy to understand why.

The Spurs have now become the league’s must-watch franchise again, as they’ve added a potential once-in-a-lifetime player to add to their already impressive collection of legendary first-overall picks.
Wembanyama’s unique skill set makes him the most hyped prospect since LeBron James and, according to Adrian Wojnarowski, arguably the greatest prospect in team sports history.
We’re talking about a LeBron James, Shohei Ohtani, Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Gretzky kind of prospect, and that obviously doesn’t come around too often.
The Spurs were used to being perennial playoff contenders during the Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker era, but they’ve struggled to get back to their winning ways since trading away Kawhi Leonard back in 2018.
It’s been way too long since one of the league’s most storied and winningest franchises had something to root for, and that drought has finally come to an end.
The NBA Draft is roughly five weeks away, but Spurs fans can already go ahead and confidently start making their jersey edits and projections with Wembanyama on their team.
