Ever since Monty Williams took charge of the Phoenix Suns, they’ve been one of the teams to beat in the Western Conference.
They shocked the world by nearly making the playoffs after an undefeated stint in the NBA bubble and later kept on improving on a yearly basis.
The Suns even made it to the NBA Finals for the first time since the Charles Barkley days, but they couldn’t hold on to a two-game lead over the eventual champions, Milwaukee Bucks.
And just when some thought that they had already reached their peaks and their championship window was closing right before their eyes, they made arguably the most impactful move in franchise history.
Kevin Durant is just what they needed to take a leap forward and become the team to beat in the league.
And after just one game vs. the Charlotte Hornets, Skip Bayless is ready to crown them as the best team in the Western Conference.
“After one game against Charlotte, I’m moving the Suns to the front of the line in the Western Conference,” Bayless said on Undisputed. “I’m gonna move them past your MVP [Nikola] Jokic and the Denver Nuggets; I’m gonna move them past Ja [Morant] and the Memphis Grizzlies.”

Of course, we already know how Skip Bayless can change his opinion instantly.
He’s a huge fan of KD, and he’s the kind of guy whose personal feelings always get in the way of his judgement, so this take doesn’t surprise us at all.
Yes, the Suns should be considered one of the strongest candidates to go the distance this season, but it’s just one game against the undermanned Charlotte Hornets without their best player LaMelo Ball, and he wouldn’t say the same thing if we were talking about LeBron James or Stephen Curry.
