With the 2023-24 NBA season finally winding down, a lot of eyes are on the Phoenix Suns, who made it clear to the league that they’re all-in on capturing the franchise’s first championship.
Phoenix assembled its own “Big 3” when they traded for Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal to pair with Devin Booker.
The team also brought in head coach Frank Vogel to help stabilize the defense after adding so much offensive talent.
However, the Suns have been marred by injuries to their star trio, most notably to Bradley Beal, who’s dealt with a litany of issues over the course of the regular season.
Phoenix recently suffered a tough loss to the Milwaukee Bucks who were without Giannis Antetokounmpo.
After the Suns’ 140-129 loss, Skip Bayless had a strong reaction, via his personal Twitter account.
“Nice games by Dame & Portis. But Bucks without Giannis just scored 140 on Phoenix … as KD went strangely quiet. The Suns are – huh? – back in the play-in,” Bayless tweeted.

Milwaukee’s been one of the more inconsistent contenders this year, but had no problems scoring against Phoenix’s hapless defense.
Kevin Durant was oddly quiet as he only scored 11 points, though Booker and Beal combined for 51 points.
As Bayless noted, the loss dropped the Suns to seventh in the Western Conference and into the Play-In Tournament, a precarious spot to be in given their title aspirations.
Phoenix still projects as a team that others don’t want to see in the postseason, though it looks like they might need to earn a postseason spot if things continue to trend this way.
