The partnership in Denver between Sean Payton and Russell Wilson only lasted one year.
There’s been a ton of blame given out by the media, mostly focused on Wilson.
Undisputed’s Skip Bayless believes he’s been over-criticized.
“Enough of the piling on. Do I think he lost a little of his edge and drive when he went to Denver? … I do think there was some of that,” Bayless said.
“He now got pushed out the backdoor unceremoniously and I think it will sting,” Bayless also said.

He later predicted that Wilson could play well for two to three years elsewhere.
Bayless has been one of few sports personalities to defend the former All-Pro quarterback.
Wilson had a good, not great season in his second year in Denver.
Sean Payton never seemed to trust Wilson, leading to his dismissal after signing a massive five-year, $242 million-dollar deal.
The argument could be made that his release was unwarranted, given there’s no clear plan to replace him.
Teams will surely be interested in his services but will pay closer attention to higher-end quarterbacks like Kirk Cousins and Baker Mayfield.
Both quarterbacks aren’t ruling out the possibility of re-signing with their respective teams.
If both return to their teams, Wilson could receive more interest than previously expected.
Teams such as the Las Vegas Raiders, Pittsburgh Steelers, Atlanta Falcons, New England Patriots, and Washington Commanders could be interested in his services.
None of these franchises have their future starting quarterback in place and could benefit from a veteran.
Wherever he lands, we know for a fact that it won’t be Denver.
